Micro Swiss Nozzle for MK10 All-Metal Hotend - A2 Hardened Steel .4/.6/.8mm

I bought this all metal hot end upgrade and larger nozzles for my Wanhao i3, in order to increase print speed. You can also use it to print higher temperature materials such as nylon and polycarbonate. But my reason was to melt good old PLA, just a lot more of it. I bought my Wanhao from Digitmakers 4 or 5 years ago and it has served me problem free for all of that time. I've printed many, many things large and small, but mostly small. With a .4 mm nozzle diameter and a .2 mm layer height, anything larger than a few centimeters can take hours to print. Most of the things I print and want to print, have some function. They consist of multiple parts press fit or held together with bolts. I used to agonize over my designs, knowing that a small mistake would mean having to repeat a multi hour print. If the thing I printed ended up being the wrong size, I'd do my best to force it to fit. With a .8 mm nozzle width and a .6 mm layer height, what used to take 2 hours to print, now takes 30 minutes or less. If a print doesn't work the first time, I can print a second and maybe even a third in less time than the old way. Plus the print head moves more slowly, in a more gentle and less jerky motion. The down side, I suppose, is a loss in "print quality", partly offset by an increase in "print strength". For most makers, print quality is synonymous with a faux injection molded look, with no layer visibility and lots of fine detail. Big nozzle prints, on the other hand, shout "You're damn right I was printed with filament. That's why I'm so strong and still here doing my job." Yes, I'm super happy with this upgrade. It's more than just an incremental improvement. It broadens the range of things that I can print with filament.
