Unlike so-called thermoset materials, PLA can be heated past its melting point multiple times with very little degradation. The low melting temperature also means \u003cstrong\u003elow-temperature resistance\u003c\/strong\u003e. Parts start to lose mechanical strength at temperatures \u003cstrong\u003eover 60 °C\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe combination of being \u003cstrong\u003elow in UV and temperature resistance\u003c\/strong\u003e means that it’s \u003cstrong\u003enot ideal for outdoor use\u003c\/strong\u003e. Also, PLA is only soluble in chemicals like chloroform or hot benzene. So when connecting multiple pieces, you’re better off using just glue.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEven though PLA is on its own food safe, we do not recommend repeatedly \u003cstrong\u003edrinking or eating from your 3D prints\u003c\/strong\u003e. Because of the small fractures on the print surface, bacteria can build up in there over time. You can prevent this by applying a food-safe coating. When \u003cstrong\u003epost-processing PLA\u003c\/strong\u003e, it’s better to use wet sanding.
